Fourteen is one of the less interesting numbers I've approached thus far. There just isn't all that much that's funny about 14. Sure, there are some interesting facts and trivia, but nothing that's inspiring. Selah, I suppose I'll just do this quickly, in boring list style... just like Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen Points speech to congress where he enumerated the reasons for fighting World War I.
14 is the atomic number for Silicon, without which I could not draft these emails, and without which you could not read these emails. I suppose I could send out snail-mail copies of these missives to all of you each day, but think of the trees that would be killed due to the paper and think of the innocent bystanders killed by deranged postmen forced into longer hours due to their increased volume of mail. So, umm, thanks Silicon?
There are 14 lines in a sonnet. I recall having to memorize Wordsworth's "The World is Too Much with Us" back in some English class. At the time (I think) I thought of the poem as some sort of idealistic crypto-hippie pabulum. Now, I think it actually is idealistic crypto-hippie pabulum, but that doesn't make it less true.
